There are a few easy energy saving tips your school can implement to save money and reduce the impact on the environment.
- Use public transport, walk or ride your bike to get to school.
- Organise to have recycling bins and facilities available around the school.
- Ensure your PCs, printers, photocopiers and other equipment are not left on standby are turned off at the power point.
- Turn off any lights, fans, air conditioners or heaters when classrooms are not in use.
- Prevent your classroom doors from being open whenever possible. This will assist to keep cool or warm air in.
- Inspect to ensure your water taps are not leaking or dripping. If so, organise for them to be fixed ASAP. This will save energy, water and money.
- When buying new or replacement appliances, search for equipment with a higher energy rating and an appropriate size for the usage required.
- Plant some trees, they will absorb carbon dioxide from the environment and provide shade from the sun.
